Luján Enters Campaign With Strong Grassroots Support and More Than $3.7M Cash-on-Hand
February 3, 2026, Santa Fe, N.M. – Senator Ben Ray Luján on Tuesday officially filed paperwork with the New Mexico Secretary of State to seek re-election and continue fighting for all New Mexicans in the United States Senate.
“I grew up right here in Nambé, New Mexico, the son of a union ironworker and a public school employee. My family taught me the values that still guide me today: treat people with respect and dignity, stand up to bullies, and fight for what’s right. Those are the New Mexico values I’ve brought with me to the Senate and why I’m running for re-election.
“New Mexicans work hard and play by the rules, but too many families are still struggling to afford health care, groceries, and housing. Instead of building on the progress made, the Trump administration has undermined jobs here at home, put rural hospitals on the brink of closure, and driven up costs for working families.
“Today is just the beginning of this campaign.
“I look forward to continuing to travel the state and listening to New Mexicans from every walk of life. New Mexico is a special place we are proud to call home. Together, we will keep fighting to protect our values and build a future that works for all New Mexicans.”
The Luján campaign enters the election with strong grassroots and financial support, reporting $3,716,253.70 cash on hand in the most recent reporting period. The campaign submitted more than 11,100 signatures to the New Mexico Secretary of State.
Since being elected to the Senate, Luján has focused on making life more affordable for New Mexicans, lowering health care costs, connecting families to the internet, and delivering results for all 33 New Mexico counties. He’s fought to lower prescription drug costs, protect and strengthen Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and defend nutrition assistance for working families, seniors, veterans, and rural communities.
Luján has also been a leading voice demanding accountability and transparency from the Trump administration, fighting back against policies that raise costs, threaten health care access, or leave communities behind. He has consistently stood up for New Mexico values by calling out what’s wrong and working to deliver solutions that put our people first.
When elected to the U.S. Senate, Luján became the first Hispanic to represent New Mexico in the Senate in more than 40 years. He is also one of only two Head Start graduates to serve in the Senate, reflecting his commitment to expanding opportunity for working families and the next generation.
